Released on June 24, 2014, Allies is the first autonomous EP of Breaking Benjamin’s Keith Wallen. Composed of five tracks, Allies has an alternative indie-pop style with vocals that you will want to hear again and again immediately after the first listen.

Allies paints a variety of emotions, places, feelings and experiences, accompanied by instrumentation that at sounds nostalgic, but in a good way. Besides Wallen’s vocals, the piano, synthesizer and guitars are the main instruments that give you a feeling of warmth throughout this album.

Allies features artists such as Ddendyl (contestant on NBC’s The Voice, season 6) in the piano-lead song “Hey, Baby”. Ddendyl’s and Wallen’s voices mix perfectly in this track, which is also one of my favorites. “California Road” features London-based musician Carlos Garcia playing guitar, making the song speak for itself.

Tracks “Face in the Light” and “Hello Houston” both feature piano, making a magical combination with Wallen’s vocals. The last track of Allies gives us an amazing cover song called “Wicked Game”. The synthesizers and electric guitar accompanying his voice, makes the cover slow and nostalgic, but beautiful.
