Rob Zombie is known for his horror, he has built his career on all things creepy and scary. Best known for his films and successful music career, that’s really all people know about him. Here are a few things you didn’t know, but should know, about Rob Zombie.
- His real name is Robert Bartleh Cummings.
- Some of his idols growing up were Stan Lee, Alice Cooper, Bela Lugosi, and Steven Spielberg.
- Prior to the fame of White Zombie, he was a production assistant on the, then, popular tv show Pee-Wee’s Playhouse.
- Rob Zombie and then girlfriend, Sean Yseult, formed the band White Zombie. Though the couple didn’t last, they continued to civilly work together and perform in the band.
- In 1996, he changed his name legally to Rob Zombie.
- On his final album with White Zombie, he fulfilled one of his dreams and collaborated on a song with his childhood idol Alice Cooper.
- Zombie formed his own recorded label in 1998 called Zombie-A-Go-Go Records.
- After the death of cult leader Charles Manson, Zombie is credited for narration a chilling documentary called Charles Manson: The Final Word.
- Zombie composed the score for video game Twisted Metal III.
- In 1999, Zombie helped design an attraction at Universal Studios, which would later be a huge part in the revival of Hollywood Horror Nights attractions.
- Fitting perfectly with his scary and ominous look, Zombie collaborated with the Prince of Darkness himself, Ozzy Osbourne, on his second solo album.
- After years of work, his film House of 1000 Corpses was picked up by Lionsgate and was set to be released.
- Though he has the rockstar image, Zombie stated in an interview once that he didn’t get to where he was and accomplish all that he had by being “wasted and f**ked up”. In this particular interview he prides himself on his avoidance of alcohol and substance abuse.
