A Thousand Lights, AKA Daniel Wonacott of Finch and Speak The Truth…Even If Your Voice Shakes, has released his debut solo single “Love Song For The Lonely”. “’Love Song For The Lonely’ was written from memories of conversations I had with a close friend about a divorce,” says Wonacott of the song. “It’s about finding an anthem, something to sing together.” The track is lifted from A Thousand Lights’ forthcoming album, Love Songs For The Lonely, due out on November 1, 2019. Vinyl is available now for pre-order, here: https://bit.ly/2plnENP. For more information on A Thousand Lights, please visit: https://facebook.com/athousandlightsrock.
Daniel Wonacott is an emo survivor, from having his high school band signed and then shelved by Capitol Records, to his 10-year stint writing, touring and surviving multiple break-ups with seminal emo rockers Finch to writing and producing a record with his emo supergroup Speak The Truth… Even If Your Voice Shakes. His new solo project A Thousand Lights is ready to see the light of day.
Love Songs For The Lonely was written, produced, mixed and performed by Wonacott himself at his studio in Claremont CA. The album explores loneliness in relationships and in our day-to-day lives. Wonacott explains, “I wrote this record to deal with the things happening in my life and what I was seeing in my friends’ lives, divorce, depression, alienation but also hope and love. I wrestle with manic depression and have tried to put my energy into songwriting, to help me understand myself, and create something that people can relate to. We’re all lonely at times and everyone’s life is complicated and three dimensional. I wanted to create a record that reflects that.”
Wonacott is a prolific songwriter, writing over 30 songs in the span of three months to put together this debut record, which he whittled down to 10 punchy and emotional emo/pop punk tracks. “I try and lean into my manic moments and what happens is, I end up writing a song a day for periods of time. It took me a little bit to find the style of A Thousand Lights, I was co-writing for other artists and producing other acts, so I had to wipe the slate clean before I found my own voice. The best way to do that is to just write a ton of songs and see what comes out.”
A Thousand Lights’ new album will be available everywhere on November 1, 2019.
