Travis Barker‘s son was raised to be quite the e-boy. Landon Barker runs with all of TikTok’s biggest stars in Hollywood. The social media fame, though, comes with some downsides: all of his friendship drama immediately becomes public.
If you haven’t heard, Landon is currently dating TikTok sensation Charli D’Amelio. Rumors of the pair started rumbling when they were spotted in June leaving Landon’s concert together. By July, Charli confirmed they were dating through a picture on Instagram.
Here’s where it gets messy:
Young love can never be that simple. Charli’s ex was absolutely not happy about this. Chase Hudson — known as Huddy musically — actually dropped a song that seems to shade the relationship. Charli and Chase were TikTok’s sweetest couple until their official break up in April of 2020. Even after the breakup, though, there were still heavy rumors and speculation that they were still seeing each other behind the scenes.
Prior to the breakup, there was a catastrophic drama moment in the TikTok world. Apparently, Chase had cheated on Charli. Eventually, they both cleared up the accusations. It turns out, Charli and Chase weren’t official at the time. Nonetheless, they ended up splitting up.
Everything seemed very amicable. As Chase entered his musical journey and dropped an album called Teenage Heartbreak, people were quick to think that his music was reflecting on his relationship. The music video for one of his singles — “America’s Sweetheart” — even featured Charli dancing.
Where’s Travis on the issue?
That’s when everything starts to get a little dicey. It turns out that Travis Barker actually features on one of the album’s songs — “Don’t Freak Out.”
Chase continued working on his music, but Charli started seeing Travis’s son, Landon. According to rumors and Chase’s lyrics, he didn’t find out about Charli and Landon until the public did… through the Instagram post.
Landon and Chase were friends. Both of the stars are Gen Z icons with slightly edgier, emo appearances. You may even call them total e-boys. That’s seemingly why they clicked so easily. It doesn’t hurt that Landon’s dad is a rock icon and Chase plays alternative music.
On July 24th, Chase dropped his latest single “All The Things I Hate About You” and opened a whole slew of drama. Assuming that the song is about Landon and Charli, they lyrics describe Charli as a “showstopper, bad liar, homie hopper, drama starter,” and dove into a few other issues.
Chase even describes himself as a “rockstar” and Landon as a “bumstar.” He makes a point to basically call Landon a knockoff, implying that Charli downgraded.
We haven’t heard much of a response from Charli, but we certainly heard from Landon.
Landon took to Instagram to set the record straight. He pointed out that he grew up around some of rock music’s greatest and that his dad is the drummer for Blink-182. He goes as far as to call Chase a “poser,” which is a huge dig.
Who’s side are you taking?
On the one hand, the cheating rumors didn’t look great for Chase even after they were cleared up. Calling Charli a homie hopper is a big statement if the cheating was true.
However, is Landon’s point event relevant? After all, your father being a rockstar doesn’t make you one yourself. Plus, do nepotism babies have any room to be calling others “posers,” especially when Landon’s dad is featured on one of Chase’s tracks?
Is this all a PR stunt? Maybe! It would be one that is totally working, though.
No matter the side, you can’t deny that the song is a killer bop. It’s already reached nearly 3 million streams on Spotify alone. Chase (or maybe we should start using his artist name, Huddy) is about to take off on a North American tour supporting Oliver Tree. We can’t wait to see what’s next for the alt-pop emo star-rising.
Anyway, The E-Girl Review has you covered with what’s popular with the Gen Z alternative scene. So, don’t forget to keep up.
