Angels and Airwaves’ “All That’s Left is Love” reviewed

By April 28, 2020May 1st, 2020No Comments

Angels and Airwaves’ “All That’s Left Is Love” was recently released through Rise Records and the band  announced that all proceeds will be going to American hunger foundation, Feeding America.

We are currently living in such strange and unusual times that are leading to some big uncertainty. We watch as all our favorite bands start to postpone or even cancel their upcoming tours; the ones we have been waiting or even hoping for. We sit back with uncertainty as we watch all our summer plans of music festivals start to diminish. Leading us to wonder when are we going to go back to the “normal” that we use to know.

Despite all the bad, the cancellations, and the uncertainty happening around us; hope is the one thing that has yet to be cancelledThe hope of being able to spend time with our friends and our loved ones. The hope to that the “normal” we were living will be back; full of concerts and music festivals we have been dying to see. Angels and Airwaves without a doubt, always knows “spread hope like fire” in our lives.

“All That’s Left Is Love”; is a song about the “Hope” and “Love” our souls are currently searching for. We see it in lyrics such as:

“We’ve never been here before.

To not love less, to love more”

and

“When the days are getting tough.

A little bit’s enough

When all that’s left is love.”

While viewing the world around us as “so unreal” while the seasons are starting to change; Angels and Airwaves found a way of adding a little bit of their “magic” in our lives. This magic was adding from some of their most under rated songs. We find hints from songs such as: “A Little’s Enough” and “Moon as My Witness” that help us connect to the song better.

“All That’s Left is Love”; doesn’t have the normal “spacey” sound/ feel we would expect from an Angels and Airwaves song; but it does show a bit of Tom’s “punk roots” giving  a sense of a “Blinky” vibe. It gives us a reflection on how much Tom truly has moved on. Not only in his personal life but with Angels and Airwaves and To the Stars Academy. It also shows he is able to still stay true to himself, despite all the doubt and bad going on around him.

If any song released thus far in 2020 could describe our year, along with giving “hope”, “love”, and a “desire” for a new start, Angels and Airwaves’ “All That’s Left Is Love” would be it. If the sound of the upcoming album from Angels and Airwaves is anywhere near as magical as this song, it will be well worth the wait.
