First of all, we have to know, have you ever met Bill Murray?
I have never met Bill Murray but one of the goals of my band is to have him in a music video!
For newcomers, how would you describe your sound?
We sound like a mixture of lofi/pop/retro 80s/hardcore/rockish.
Last month you released a new collaborative album, Muri and Friends – can you tell us how it came about and what made you want to do a cover album?
I was super bored in quarantine and needed something to work on, so I thought it would be really fun to have a bunch of my talented friends that I’ve made through the band, sing over songs I produced. (Some of them are produced by others as well).
What was your favourite cover to work on?
I enjoyed the “fuck i’m lonely” cover because it’s just a nice groove.
Do you have any plans to work on new music this year?
I have an album completely done of instrumentals. I’m going to record vocals to the album in my studio at my mom’s house in a couple weeks!
You recently got fans to send in clips to make a music video for “Bruh.mp4”, the end result was so wholesome! Would you say that kind of project brings you closer to your fans?
Yeah that project was so much fun, I can’t really shoot a video right now cause we’re all stuck inside. It was just a fun way we could all come together and make something. I really enjoyed it! I honestly think Bilmuri fans are the damn best.
What songs have been getting you through lockdown?
Um I’m not sure any song in particular has got me through lockdown, more just the internet as a whole, I guess. I think we would all actually be losing our minds if we didn’t have the internet during all this. I’m grateful.
