We recently had the opportunity to meet up with four-piece metal-core band out of Austin, Texas, Catch Your Breath, in an exclusive All Punked Up interview. We discussed signing with Thriller Records, recent single “Dial Tone” and much more.

First off, I wanted to congratulate you guys on the announcement of signing with the Thriller Records family. How are you feeling post announcement?
Thank you so much! To be honest, we’re still taking it all in! It’s so surreal and a dream come true. Forever grateful.
Your most recent release of “Dial Tone” has hit over 5.5 million streams on Pandora and 2.5 Million on Spotify, all while charting on iTunes! How do you guys feel after receiving this news?
We all believed this song was going to do well, but we never expected it to do THIS well! It’s actually insane and we couldn’t be happier about it.
Where did you guys get the inspiration for “Dial Tone”?
We wanted to go a different direction from our previous stuff. A few of us were dealing with some personal things, most were very similar to each other, it was weird, so we decided to write a song about it right then and there.
How did the band get its name, Catch Your Breath?
Originally when we first formed, we were called Inertia but decided it’d be best to rename since there’s a few bands with that name already. Josh was watching the movie 300 and heard Leonidas say “catch your breath” and thought that would be a cool band name.. so we ran with it.
What would you say your favorite lyrics you have written would be, and why?
The lyric from Dial Tone “I never thought you’d be the reason that I learned to hate myself.” It perfectly encompasses that feeling we’ve all experienced sometime in our lives.
Who would you say musically influenced the band the most?
That’s a tough question because everyone in the band has different tastes and influences than each other. But I think that’s what makes our songs, Catch Your Breath. Whatever we all feel in the moment that’s good is what we do.
If you could set up your most ideal tour with any band(s) who would it be?
Bring Me The Horizon, Motionless In White, Bad Omens, I Prevail, Dayseeker
If you could write a collaboration with any band(s) who would it be?
Would love to do a song with Bring Me The Horizon!
For Kicks and Giggles, if you could be any kitchen utensil, what would you be and why?
A knife. They’re so universally useful in every day life besides only being used in the kitchen.
What can we expect from Catch Your Breath in the future?
More touring for sure! We’re planning on being on the road a lot in the future. And releasing our first album.
Is there anything else you would like your fans to know?
We seriously can’t thank our supporters enough for listening and sharing us around. Every single one of y’all matter! We wouldn’t be here without everyone’s love and support. So thank you again!
