Nessa Barrett and Jxdn release new single “la di die”

“Does it rain in California?” opens this acoustic yet full track that feels deeply similar to the 2008 emo music that we used to fall in and out of love to. Nessa Barrett has dropped this beautiful yet simple song and reminds us that she is a force to be reckoned with, especially her soft, yet pure vocals and calming energy.

The song is paired with Jxdn, an e-boy many may be aware of. He is otherwise known as Jaden Hossler and rose to fame on TikTok. His verse on the song adds just enough edge and angst to set the track up for that feeling of alternative and punk. Overall, this track was set under the direction of Travis Barker of blink-182 who seems to be having his hand in many projects of alternative artists on the rise these days.

Mother Mother announces TikTok live in support of new tracks “I Got Love” and “Stay Behind”

This Canadian indie rock band seems to be pumped for the release of not one, but two new songs for fans. While Mother Mother has been around since 2005, there seems to be an electric new excitement running through their fanbase, which is growing and expanding rapidly.

Why? Well, as is a common theme in this column, the e-kids have found it and fallen in love with it. There’s something admirable about music that can find its way to another generation and subculture and stick and resonate so well. Mother Mother is tapping into this full force with their TikTok live, where they’ll be answering fan questions and engaging with their base.

Conan Gray’s “Overdrive” has surpassed 6 million Spotify streams only two weeks after release

Ever since “Maniac” and “Heather” blew up on TikTok, Conan Gray has not stopped being e-kid’s golden boy, dominating charts and exploding on the Internet.

“Overdrive” feels more of a pop-energy than we’ve ever seen from Conan before, but we were expecting this directional change from the young musician following his collaboration with Lauv. This new sound is setting him up to be the next iconic pop diva. However, his music is still certainly twinged with alternative energy and new, fresh perspectives… just a bit more ready for radio play now.
