First, I wanted to congratulate you on the release of your new single! How are you guys feeling since the release?

The response has been incredible.  With each new release, I feel like we reach more ears, faster than the track before.  It’s been amazing to see people posting their reactions to “Circles” and using the sound on TikTok.  I know that we are all super proud of the work that went into the release and are eager to put that song on a stage.

What was your inspiration for the song and what are your favorite lyrics from it?

Vocally I definitely wanted to expand past what is stylistically typical of our genre.  I definitely took some influences from bands such as Lorna Shore and other deathcore bands.  Lyrically, the song was inspired by feelings I had in my life in around my third semester of college.  I was dealing with a bad relationship that seemed to be consuming my life.  Each day felt the same, hence the lyrics “running circles in a fucking dream.”

Is there anything you would like your fans to know about the song?

This song was definitely my means of pushing myself and trying new things vocally.  I wanted to expand the idea of what I thought my voice could do and this was my way of doing it.

Can you tell me one of the most memorable moments you have had as a band?

Definitely one of the most meaningful moments for this band was when we all signed our contract with InVogue.  Make a serious business decision around something that you helped create really sticks with you.  That feeling of “oh shit, we are actually doing the thing.”  It was definitely the start of many very memorable moments.

Let’s talk about TikTok and your motionless in white open verse  video for a moment. Was it a surprise to you guys how well it was received? Where did your inspiration come from for the verse?

We definitely knew that our core audience would most likely want us to give that contest a try.  What surprised me was how fast it spread outside of our fan base.  To see 1.1 million views next to something that you created is such a surreal experience.  We definitely expanded the Dark Divine family through that contest.  The lyrics were inspired by my experiences with anxiety.  The lyrics tell of a person having anxiety having a profound effect on their personality and turning them into seemingly someone they’re not.

If you could have a song collaborated with any band or singer, who would it be and why?

I would personally love to have a collaboration with Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox.  I am a huge fan of Spiritbox and I feel like we could do some really cool things vocally.

What can we expect in the future from the band?

We will be starting our first tour with Famous Last Words on August 19th, which is the same day as our next single release.  We will be kicking the tour off in Orlando, Florida.  Tickets for each show can be found at www.famouslastwordsband.com

Is there anything else you would like our readers to know?

There may or may not be a collab currently in the works.
