Cleveland pop-punk band, Elbow Room, released their latest EP, Now That You’re Away on June 5.
The EP, recorded at Lumberyard Recording, produced by Ace Enders (Early November) Nik Bruzzese (Man Overboard) and mastered by Cory Bergeron (mixed Fossil Youth,) showcases an overwhelming amount of growth for this new era of Elbow Room.
The EP, kicks off on a mellow note with “Close the Door,” creating a darker feel when placed next to ER’s previously released music. The intro lays subtly against lead vocalist, Ben Scott’s, voice, when a quick transition to co-vocalist, Spencer Fetcko, flows in building an ear pleasing dynamic. The track continues on steady and tranquil leaving listeners wanting more from the band.
Next, comes “Waiting (Without You)” fitting the theme of the EP, staying stagnate while simultaneously adding an energetic element with bold screams and fast-paced guitars. In addition the band has unveiled their video for the track on June 4.
“Figure It Out” is a fearless track, showcasing the band’s ability to add power to their vocals, calming music waves into a harder rock sound, creating the perfect contrast. The song has a sense of relatability, making fans and new listeners feel a connection to the band and is new stage of their career.
“Now That You’re Away is the most honest step we’ve taken as a band in the process of putting our sound into a body of art.” Fetcko said, “it’s a little bit of where we are now, and so much of where we are headed sonically. These songs are truer to ourselves than anything we’ve release yet and because of that, we hold them very close to us.”
The EP closes out on single, “At The Bottom,” we dug deeper in this track, read it now.
The pre-chorus swings in with the skin-chilling lyrics “‘Cause underneath the scars I hide what you have done to me/your favorite tendency/spark my dependency,” that lay over a bouncy transition.
