Flor’s Webster Hall performances was an example of what pop bands should strive for

When your photographer hurries out of a photo pit with tears running down her cheeks and a look of pure shock, alarms of concern go off in your head: until you quickly realize that the tears are full of cathartic emotions and not ones of pure emergency.

The Flor show at Webster Hall in New York City was a mixed bag of people, emotions, and sounds blended together in a way that set it apart from so many tours that pass through the city that prides itself on an understanding of intricately unique music. Flor’s set was defined by a feeling of collectivism and unity that brought a sense of calm over the audience.

Now, all these adverbs are just a fancy way to say that the Flor set was packed with people who were looking for others who understood and that’s what they found. Watching Flor was like walking yourself through a hazy feel-good dream.

Their music was simple, sweet, and smooth like honey. As they played, it was like following a very obviously lit path that separated yourself from your anxieties. What was particularly impressive was the balance the band had between each other.

There was an obvious understanding between the band on stage. It was more than just personal chemistry, but nearly a musical arrangement that allowed for the entire audience to be encompassed in a bubble of absolute peace.

For Flor, the show at Webster Hall seemed to be a trademark of what to expect at one of their shows. The energy they gave danced across the stage and the fans reacted to it in a way that was with peace and understanding. Flor truly might be the next great pop band of our generation, which comes as no surprise since they were formerly an opener for pop queen Halsey herself. In fact, the last time Flor played this venue was four years ago on Halsey’s tour. Their growth over those years has been astounding and proves exactly why they deserve to climb the charts and reach the top.

Flor is electric. Flor is what pop music needs right now. Like a breath of fresh air, they blew my way and I can’t wait to see what’s next.
