For The Win have finally released their second full length album Heavy Thoughts after delaying it over the summer when the album was originally set to release in April. Heavy Thoughts is a massive album from the band. It’s gripping and has you wanting more by the end of it with all the many catchy hooks and choruses with verses that will make you sit back and think, “I wish that I could have written that.”
The opening track to the album is something as powerful as “The Downfall Of Us All” by A Day To Remember is. Kyle’s reaching out saying “This is a song for the beaten and broken,” sends you into the main concept throughout the album which is to accept the things you have been through, you are alive.
“G-Series” is another powerful pop punk song full of angst against maybe an old friend or an ex but also for the protagonist to begin finding their own way, as a way of letting go.
The album is full of amazing sing alongs with heavy breakdowns and heavy thoughts. There is an acoustic song at the end of the album that is reminiscing over a broken relationship, but overall Heavy Thoughts is the new Homesick. The boys from San Diego will continue to strike many hearts with the lyrics and riffs from this album for a long time. The album is a solid 8.9/10.
