Channeling the essence of these dark days into music, Halflives released their new single, “Villain” on the fittingly chosen date of Friday November 13th. Produced by Nicholas Goncalves (8 Graves), the song touches on human nature, responsibility and the dark side we all have.
After having taken a break from their original guitar-flavoured sound on their recent EP, Resilience, Halflives are bringing the 6-strings back with a thick sombre sound topped by Linda Battilani’s haunting vocals. Loyal to their trademark of having melody at the heart of every song, “Villain” flirts with the border between alternative and electronic to a mellow beat and dark tones.
Lyrically incisive, “Villain” is inspired by vocalist/songwriter Linda Battilani’s life experiences, but also TV and film which contributed to her artistic creation after consuming a lot of it this year during lockdown.

Talking about the rock trio’s new song, vocalist Linda Battilani said, “”Villain” is for anyone who has ever experienced a toxic relationship of any kind that brought out the worst part of themselves. Sometimes we hurt each other so badly that we don’t know who’s right and who’s wrong anymore. We’re always the villain in someone else’s story.”
