Virginia-based band House & Home recently signed to Open Your Ears Records and will release their upcoming album Find Sense. Feel Love. Make Light. this April. Their first single “Heatseekers” is available now exclusively on Alternative Press.
House & Home, formed in 2017, is a trio that grew up eating, breathing, and bleeding DIY music. They self-recorded and released their first EP Fully Grown in their first year. Find Sense. Feel Love. Make Light. will be their second record and is set to drop on April 17th.
All Punked Up got an exclusive look at the epic album. Check out our thoughts below!
The first track opens with a very grunge-feeling punk beat and a guitar part that preps you for the drop into the main riff. While the guitar parts feel heavier, the singing is actually quite light. The contrast plays nicely and gives the band the pop part of pop-punk music. Heatseeker follows a similar structure, with heavier guitar parts in between the lighter singing. As fans listen to the album, the vocals get a bit heavier and have more power behind each line. The final song “Cathedral” closes off the album with a soft, emotional bridge: a major contrast from the opening of the album. Each song separates itself from the other while also carrying a cohesive sound theme across the album. The band carries that early 2000s vibe of alternative rock while incorporating elements of today’s pop-punk genre. House & Home creates music that blends several subgenres of punk seamlessly.
Without a doubt, House & Home’s upcoming record Find Sense. Feel Love. Make Light. will take the band far. Be sure to keep up with the band on Facebook and Spotify!
