There hasn’t been a time in Mark Hoppus’s career when his song writing was as dark as it was in his band +44. His emo punk rock band gained attention after the infamous Blink-182 breakup in 2005, which gave Mark an opportunity to reach deep into his heart and let out all of his frustrations lyrically.
+44 lead to arguably some of the best lyrics Hoppus has ever written. With hits such as “When Your Heart Stops Beating,” “No It Isn’t” and “Baby Come On,” the newly formed band’s first album sat at no. 10 on Billboards top 200 list with approximately 66,000 copies sold in the first week, according to Wikipedia.
However, the band never got a chance to record a second studio album, considering Blink-182 reached an agreement to record their first album since their hiatus in 2005. Hoppus then declared +44 to be on hiatus, but told the Alternative Press, “I don’t consider it done. We’ll never say never with anything.”
Well, Hoppus has stuck to his word nearly eight years later. On Thursday night, Hoppus held a Q&A on his twitter, where he was asked about a possible +44 album or reunion. He responded with:
@Marcdachamp no plans as of right now, but we’ll never say never.

Maybe It Isn’t the end of +44 and all of it’s gloomy goodness. With Matt Skiba doing vocals with Blink 182 in replace of Tom DeLonge, there are some troubles arising with Skiba’s placement with his original band Alkaline Trio.
If Alkaline Trio decides to tour or get in the studio to record a new album, Hoppus might have an opportunity to get working on that second +44 album.
Hopefully he gets it out before his Heart Stops Beating.
