First, I wanted to congratulate you about your new upcoming album release, How are you feeling about your new album getting ready to be released?

Thank you so much! It’s definitely nerve racking, it kind of feels like I’m making my diary public to the world but it’s so exciting and it’s been in the works for so long, it’s very cathartic!

Is there anything you would like your fan’s know about the new release or what to expect?

The new project is for sure the biggest variety I’ve given my audience, I pulled from so many different sounds and pop culture references! It’s also my first physical release EVER and it feels so good to have something to share with my fans that they can keep forever.

Let’s talk about your most recent video release to “End of My Life” where you get the inspiration for the video and the song?

The inspiration for the song came from the book “Bridget Jones Diary”, a 90s classic but also so relatable for any woman that feels like they’re not where they’re supposed to be in life. Playing off the title, the video was heavily inspired by horror films such as “Scream” and “Halloween”. I haven’t really seen anyone reference those films in a genuinely creepy way, I didn’t want it to get TOO campy or funny to take away from the grunge aesthetic so I’m really happy with how it turned out!

What would you say your favorite lyric from the song would be?

My favorite lyric would probably be “Drinking from the bottle, Mad about the boy, I’m crying on the floor but man I’m doing it with poise”. “Mad about the boy” is actually the title of one of the Bridget Jones books and one of her self-help catchphrases throughout the series is to do everything “with poise” even when you’re totally freaking out. So I just love that I got to slip some of those details into the lyrics without it feeling too specific!

Who would you say is your biggest musical inspiration and why?

My biggest music inspiration changes every few months. Throughout the past year I went from Alanis Morissette to Liz Phair to Courtney Love to The Beatles. Recently I’ve been taking a lot of inspiration from Frank Sinatra! I love the feel of the chord choices and lyrics around that time it was so simple and so effective!

You Just recently released “Queen Bitch” can you elaborate on what that song means?

“Queen Bitch” was written from a feeling of insecurity, getting too old for the industry, not being ‘cool’ enough. I wrote it after listening to “Celebrity Skin” by Hole front to back on the way to my session and I loved that line where Courtney Love says “They royalty rate all the girls like you”. It seems like she’s talking down to someone but also talking about herself, I wanted to have that feeling of insecurity masked by cockiness. A self awareness that we point the finger at each other and become competitive, and that’s exactly what they want.

If you could go on tour with anyone, who would it be?

I would love to tour with some of my badass peers like Mothica, Muna, Beabadoobee! In a dream world I would love to tour with Halsey or Kacey Musgraves!

What can we expect in the future from you?

In the future I hope to be doing more shows and expanding upon “Girl Next Door” with the same candidness and honesty! It’s been so fun getting to be more involved in the visuals and showing the things I’m interested in outside of music, I can’t wait to do more of that!

Is there anything else that you would like your fans to know?

Girl Next Door is available for preorder now, it comes out 10/28! I’m so appreciative of everyone’s support, thank you SO much <3
