Lapyear Release New Single “Negative (I Wish I Was)”

By April 17, 2020No Comments

London four-piece, Lapyear release new single on Venn Records, the latest addition to Negative (I Wish I Was) – part of upcoming EP, Smile.

Keeping the core elements from their previous single, “Under My Tongue”, Lapyear have taken inspirations for “Negative” from earlier grunge, emo, and brit pop artists.  This new release also incorporates DIY-emo and punk influences, echoing the likes of Oso Oso, Balance & Composure and more.  The band have created something totally unique, harnessing vast influences from a range of genres.

In a previous interview with All Punked Up, they said their last single, “Under My Tongue” touched on themes of not being comfortable in your own skin but convincing yourself and your friends that you are.  Lapyear told us they were not the type of band to repeat themselves and they were true to their word as they explore a different story for their latest release.  “Negative” is described by vocalist, Chris Burton as being, “a subtle dig to anyone that tries to hold you back from your personal goals, whether it be a relationship, a family member, someone you work with, or someone that’s jealous of your achievements.”

The new Lapyear release,“Negative (I Wish I Was)” is available to stream now and Smile will be available on 15th May.
