Linkin Park teases unreleased “Friendly Fire” song with Chester Bennington vocals

By February 19, 2024No Comments

Linkin Park fans got a surprise on Monday (Feb. 19) with the release of a 30-second audio teaser for a previously unheard song called “Friendly Fire.” The track dates back to the band’s 2017 album One More Light sessions and features the vocals of the late Chester Bennington. You can check out the clip below.

The teaser arrived after several days of cryptic activity on the band’s social media, including posts featuring their previous releases and song lyrics highlighted in green. This new shade of green has also appeared on their Spotify profile images and some YouTube music video thumbnails.

While the band hasn’t explicitly announced new music, the timing and visual clues have certainly sparked speculation among fans. “Friendly Fire” was reportedly finished and mixed in 2020, though it never made the final cut for “One More Light.” Could this finally be its release?

It’s worth noting that vocalist Mike Shinoda previously stated in 2022 that the band wasn’t working on any new music or tours. However, the possibility of releasing previously unheard material like “Friendly Fire” hasn’t been ruled out.

Whether this marks the return of new Linkin Park music or simply a tribute to Chester Bennington with an unreleased gem, the teaser has certainly ignited excitement among the band’s dedicated fanbase. Keep an eye on their social media for further developments and the potential release of “Friendly Fire.”
