Cleveland pop-punk band, Elbow Room, debut single, “At The Bottom,” off their upcoming EP, Now That You’re Away, due out June 5.
Elbow Room has been known to put out songs that showcase warmth and familiarity, “At The Bottom” embodies a new era of ER, working with producers such as Ace Enders (The Early November,) to highlight a crisp and fresh sound.
The track fades in on a bold note while ascending into a darker tone as the first verse begins. The pre-chorus swings in with the skin-chilling lyrics “‘Cause underneath the scars I hide what you have done to me/your favorite tendency/spark my dependency,” that lay over a bouncy transition. Co-vocalists Ben Scott and Spencer Fetcko embrace their chemistry in quick back-and-forth moments, while pairing screams against clean vocals to tie the track together.
“”At The Bottom” was written about a situation involving being at the lowest point I had been in about 8 years.” Scott said. “It’s a self reflection of where I was and how I felt in a moment of dismay.”
In addition, the band has been practicing social distancing with their Social Distancing Sessions on their IGTV. Check out an alternate version of “Underneath” below.
Keep up with the band on Spotify, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
