This week I caught up with alt pop princess, Lizzy Farrall – talking about her latest EP ‘Barbados’, to tour life and everything in between.
You’ve just come back from an EU tour with Tiny Moving Parts – how was it and what was your favourite city to visit?
I had such an incredible time and I’m super grateful to have toured the EU for the first time with two super talented and welcoming bands. Vienna was beautiful, I’ve never been to Austria before and it was honestly such a breathtaking country!
Describe being on tour in 3 words?
Too Many Carbs.
What are your plans for the rest of the year and 2020?
I’ve got some really fun stuff in the works, I’m not able to say as of yet but 2020 is looking to be a very busy year..
If you could collaborate with any artist or band, who would it be and why?
The Cure, they are a big inspiration to me and one of my favourite bands.
Do you have any advice for other female artists looking to break into the scene?
The same advice you’d give any artist. Let’s stop drawing attention to this stigma that we are not equal, don’t let anyone think you are not capable of doing what you want because of your identity.
What was your inspiration for your EP ‘Barbados’ and is there a common theme between each song?
The title Barbados is a reference to the rehabilitation centre which is in Barbados. The EP touches on a lot of different topics such as, mental health, substance abuse and toxic relationships.
What is your favourite lyric from the EP and why?
“ it’s the feeling of being numb
That makes it so hard to be loved”
I feel it touches on mental health, which is something I’ve really struggled with. It references the struggle of expression and being faced with negativity instead of understanding.
What is your go-to song that instantly makes you feel happy?
“Overkill” – Colin Hay
Lizzy is heading out on a UK and Germany tour with Cory Wells in January – it’s going to be a Pure Noise Records party, for sure!
In the meantime, make your day better and listen to the bop that is ‘Barbados’ below:
