Norfolk, Virginia natives and indie rock sensations, Mae, are ready to embark on their next chapter as they announce their signing with Equal Vision Records. Fans will delight in the news that the duo plans to release new music early next year, marking their first release in over 5 years. Renowned vocalist, David Elkins, is currently producing the highly anticipated album this fall and winter at his studio, Schematic Studios, located in Nashville, TN.
Having graced the music scene for over two decades, Mae’s remarkable journey began with the creation of their debut album’s standout single, “Embers and Envelopes,” which they wrote in their living room. This breakthrough album, Destination:Beautiful, propelled them to perform on the prestigious Vans Warped Tour and support renowned acts such as Foo Fighters, Weezer, and The Fray.
As part of their triumphant signing with Equal Vision Records, Mae will release a special 20-year re-press of their debut album, Destination:Beautiful, on vinyl. Fans can now pre-order limited variants of the vinyl to help celebrate this momentous milestone. Further details can be found here.
Zach Gehring of Mae expressed their excitement about joining forces with Equal Vision Records, stating, “We’ve admired Equal Vision for years, even since we started. We love the label, we love their bands past & present, and we are extremely thankful to be a part of their legacy.”
Matthew Gordner, representing Equal Vision Records, shared his enthusiasm for this collaboration, saying, “As an organization, we have closely followed Mae since their inception, with our artists touring together for two decades. Welcoming them as an official part of our family feels like a natural step, and we eagerly anticipate contributing to the ongoing growth of Mae’s future.”
In celebration of the 20-year anniversary of Destination:Beautiful, Mae will embark on a tour to commemorate their debut album. Starting in Washington, D.C. on September 21st, this highly anticipated tour will feature support from talented artists such as Maggie Miles, Veaux, Valleyheart, Manic., and Tedious & Brief on select dates. In addition to general tickets, VIP ticket packages are available, offering fans an acoustic show, a tour poster, a meet & greet opportunity, tour exclusive vinyl, and a digital download of their 2008 hit single, “Embers and Envelopes.” For more information about the tour, please visit www.whatismae.com.
