My Chemical Romance have a perfect opportunity to release new music

By May 21, 2020No Comments

With My Chemical Romance postponing a majority of their sold out tour across the globe for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, right now is a perfect time for the band to release new music.

After their monumental comeback on Halloween of 2019 and the cryptic announcement of a international tour, fans across the globe have been patiently waiting for new music. Now, with tours being cancelled for the summer of 2020, the time to release, at least a single, is perfect.

During quarantine, we’ve seen bands such as Neck Deep, Stand Atlantic, Angels and Airwaves, New Found Glory, Movements, and countless others give fans something to keep their minds at ease during these hard times. Bands have been working from home, finishing songs and keeping their workflow consistent.

However, we haven’t heard anything from MCR on social media regarding new music. No hints, cryptic tweets, or samples. MCR’s team has done a phenomenal job this year creating hype and marketing the bands’ comeback. But with the pandemic seemingly stopping the black parade from marching, we haven’t heard anything.

We never got news that the band was working on new music at all, even though speculation was there after Halloween of last year. However, it doesn’t dismiss the opportunity Gerard Way and co. have during these difficult times.

Although, we must take into account the difficulties quarantine brings musicians and the creative process when it comes to working on music and releasing it. I don’t think there hasn’t been a musician working on music while being at home for the past two-months. Even if we haven’t heard anything, it’s hard to believe they’ve just been sitting at home doing nothing.

Call this a hot take, but we shouldn’t be surprised if we get a cryptic tweet or Instagram post in the coming weeks or at least mid-summer.

If there’s a time to do it, right now is the absolute perfect time.

Imagine how fast the internet would break with the release of the first MCR single in ten years.
