Taylor Swift Has Four of the Top 10 Albums on the Billboard 200 Chart. Taylor Swift’s album “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” has reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, giving her a total of 12 chart-topping albums. This accomplishment is significant as she also has three other albums in the top 10 simultaneously, making her the first living artist in almost 60 years to achieve this feat. The last time a living artist had four albums in the top 10 was in 1966 when Herb Alpert accomplished it. The only other artist to achieve a similar feat was Prince, who had five albums in the top 10 following his death in 2016. Taylor Swift is also the only woman to have four albums in the top 10 since the Billboard 200 chart was unified in 1963.

Federal Reserve Says Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Is So Massive It’s Boosting the Economy. Speaking of Taylor Swift, the singer’s Eras Tour has been a boost for local economies across the country. The Philadelphia Federal Reserve has reported that hotel bookings in the city had their strongest growth in years thanks to Swift’s concerts, providing a much-needed revenue increase for the hotel industry since the pandemic began in 2020. The Swift effect is also seen in other cities, such as Cincinnati, where the surge of Swifties brought in millions of dollars in revenue for hotels. Chicago broke hotel occupancy records and generated $39 million in total hotel revenue during the first weekend of June when Swift performed at Soldier Field. Taylor Swift’s concerts continue to captivate audiences and drive economic growth wherever she goes.

Ronnie Radke Calls Out Rock Fest Crowd, Fans Fire Back. Oh boy. During Falling in Reverse’s performance at Rock Fest, lead singer Ronnie Radke expressed disappointment in the lack of energy from the crowd, sparking arguments on social media. The band played a set that included their own songs and a cover of Smash Mouth’s “All Star.” Radke took to Twitter to express that fans can criticize bands, and bands should be able to criticize crowds stating, “fans are always allowed to criticize bands, their music and performance, it’s time for bands to criticize crowds, cadot Wisconsin was boring as hell. LOL. what are some cities you band dudes hate playing cause you know the crowds are lame?” The response was mixed, with some fans defending the crowd and others supporting Radke’s opinion. Radke later clarified that he was joking around and having a little fun—so he says. You can see the exchange here.

Walk the Moon Announce They’re Taking a ‘Good Long Break’ From Touring & Making Music. Alt-rock band Walk the Moon, known for their hit song “Shut Up and Dance,” has announced an indefinite hiatus. Frontman Nicholas Petricca shared the news in an emotional 11-minute video posted on the band’s YouTube channel. Petricca expressed love, gratitude, and some sadness as the group takes a break from touring and making records. He mentioned that the band will eventually reconvene but does not know when that will be. Walk the Moon plans to livestream their final concert and hinted at new music releases. Trippie Redd Announces New Album ‘A Love Letter to You 5’. Rapper Trippie Redd is gearing up to release his new studio album, ‘A Love Letter To You 5’, on August 4. It is the fifth installment in his Love Letter series and follows 2019’s ‘A Love Letter To You 4’. While details about the album are limited, Trippie has shared the official artwork on his social media platforms. The album will include the track “Took My Breath Away,” featuring Sky Morales, which was released last month. Trippie Redd has had a successful run on the Billboard 200, with nine entries and seven top-five debuts, and has achieved four No. 1s on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. He has also garnered 35 entries on the Billboard Hot 100, with his highest-charting song being “Miss the Rage” with Playboi Carti. Recently, he was recognized by Spotify as one of the platform’s most-streamed rappers.

Metallica’s Fuel soundtracks the launch of NASA’s Artemis missions to the moon. NASA has used Metallica’s 1997 song “Fuel” in a video trailer for their Artemis missions to the moon. The video features epic footage of the Artemis I rocket launch and the astronauts. NASA shared the video and highlighted the common love for “Fuel” and fire between Metallica and the Artemis missions. The goal of the Artemis missions is to land the first woman and the first person of color on the moon using innovative technologies. Artemis I was a crew-less mission that took place in November 2022, while Artemis II is planned for launch in November 2024.

Elton John’s Farewell Tour Comes to an End With $939 Million and 6 Million Tickets. And because we’ve talked about top-grossing tours of all-time on The All Punked Up Podcast, one artist we mentioned was Elton John who at the time was finishing out his farewell tour. That tour has now concluded and the numbers are in. After nearly five years since its launch, Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour concluded with its final show on Saturday, July 8th. The tour, which reported its figures to Billboard Boxscore, achieved remarkable success, grossing $939.1 million and selling 6 million tickets.

112,000 New Tracks Are Uploaded to Streaming Services Daily. According to Luminate’s 2023 midyear report, digital service providers like Spotify and Apple Music saw an average of 112,000 new tracks added daily in the first half of 2023. This represents a 19.9% increase compared to the same period in 2022. At this rate, digital services are projected to add around 41 million tracks this year, surpassing the 34.1 million tracks added in 2022. Despite the influx of tracks, on-demand audio streaming only grew by 13.5%, indicating a disconnect between supply and demand. Major labels accounted for a mere 3.3% of new tracks, with independent artists and AI-generated content making up a significant portion of the releases. The top albums and tracks performed well in the first half of 2023, with Morgan Wallen’s “One Thing at a Time” leading the album charts and tracks by Wallen and SZA gaining a larger share of total streams.

NOFX’s Fat Mike announces orchestral album, shares new video. Fat Mike of NOFX has revealed “Fat Mike Gets Strung Out,” an album featuring orchestral reinterpretations of NOFX songs in collaboration with Baz The Frenchman. The album is set to be released on September 15 via Fat Wreck Chords. Alongside the announcement, a new track titled “Fuck Day Six” has been released, and the album will also include the previously released song “I’m A Rat,” accompanied by a video featuring Fat Mike’s stage banter before the string ensemble starts playing. Asking Alexandria Bow Out of Upcoming U.S. Festivals Over Injury. Asking Alexandria has made the decision to withdraw from several festival appearances in the U.S. this month due to drummer James Cassells’ recent foot fracture. The band had already cut short their European tour dates because of the injury. They have decided to give Cassells more time to recover before returning to the stage. The affected shows include Upheaval Fest, Rock Fest, and InkCarceration Fest, but they anticipate resuming touring in August. The band expressed gratitude for the support and love shown to Cassells and assured fans that they are focused on his recovery while looking forward to future performances.

Taylor Swift Breaks Record for Most No. 1 Albums by a Woman. And for the last bit of Taylor Swift news, the singe has achieved another record-breaking milestone as her latest re-recording, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), debuts at No. 1 on the charts. This marks Swift’s 12th No. 1 album, surpassing the previous record held by Barbra Streisand for most No. 1 albums by a female artist. Swift now ranks third overall, trailing behind The Beatles and JAY-Z. Additionally, Swift becomes the first woman in history to have four albums in the top 10 simultaneously, with Midnights at No. 5, Lover at No. 7, and folklore at No. 10.
