OUT NOW: Aliens Exist?! Tom DeLonge was right?!
This week is all about the breaking news that came out on July 26th. If you don’t know, here’s what happened. The House Oversight Committee had a Hearing on UFOs (or UAPs) that tried to shed some light on possible security risks linked to said UFOs. Well, Tom DeLonge was name-dropped during this Hearing, and his To The Stars… company is one of the main reasons why this Hearing even took place. Not only that, but the Hearing also revealed that the US government allegedly retrieved these non-human spacecraft along with the non-human biologics that piloted them. WTF, right? But does this news make it so people should be concerned for Tom DeLonge’s safety? We’ll fill you in on all of it.

Taylor Swift fans cause earthquake-level activity at ‘Eras’ Tour show. Whoa! During Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras’ tour in Seattle, the crowd’s excitement caused shaking comparable to a 2.3 magnitude earthquake, which was even stronger than the ‘Beast Quake’ event in 2011 when Seattle Seahawks fans celebrated a touchdown. The duration of shaking was the key difference, as the continuous rhythmic cheering at the concert lasted for hours, driven by the music, speakers, and beat. According to a fan’s account, the ground was literally shaking beneath their feet during the energetic performances.
Pierce the Veil Scores First Airplay Chart No. 1 With ‘Emergency Contact’. Pierce the Veil’s song “Emergency Contact” rises to No. 1 on the Alternative Airplay chart after 28 weeks, making it the second-longest trip to the top this year. Before this success, the band had only one other appearance on the Alternative Airplay chart with their song “Circles,” which reached No. 31 in 2016. The band’s previous No. 1 hits include “King for a Day” featuring Kellin Quinn, which led Hard Rock Streaming Songs in August 2022 due to its popularity on platforms like TikTok. “Emergency Contact” also climbs on the Rock & Alternative Airplay survey and ranks at No. 18 on the Hot Hard Rock Songs chart, with strong streaming and radio airplay support. The song is part of Pierce the Veil’s fifth studio album, “The Jaws of Life,” which debuted at No. 1 on Top Hard Rock Albums earlier this year and has achieved 112,000 equivalent album units so far.
Ronnie Radke on Why Falling in Reverse Don’t Release a New Album. Falling in Reverse’s Ronnie Radke revealed in a recent interview that the band hasn’t released a new studio album since 2017’s Coming Home because that album didn’t perform well and “tanked.” In response, Radke adopted a strategy similar to prominent hip-hop artist Drake, focusing on releasing standalone singles instead of traditional albums. This approach proved successful for Falling in Reverse, as exemplified by their most popular single to date, “Popular Monster,” which earned them their first-ever RIAA platinum record in 2019. Radke explains that concentrating all their creativity into one powerful song and the accompanying music video has been working well for them.

Halsey approaching new album with “no strict genre parameters”. Halsey previously announced plans for a pop album after the Nine Inch Nails-produced album “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power.” However, the musician has now revealed that her current approach is not limited to strict genre parameters. In response to a fan’s inquiry about the progress of the new album, Halsey stated that her songwriting is some of her best and the album is similar to her 2020 release, “Manic,” in the sense that it focuses on making what feels good and meaningful. Halsey recently parted ways with longtime label Capitol Records, and her fifth album’s release method is yet to be determined as she explores new partnerships.

Spotify now has 220 million paying subscribers. As of June 30th, Spotify revealed in its latest earnings report that it had 220 million Premium subscribers and 551 million monthly active users, marking a 27% and 17% increase, respectively, compared to the previous year. However, the company reported that it is generating less revenue on average from each user. The current average revenue per user is €4.27 (approximately $4.72), representing a 6% decline year-on-year and a slight decrease from €4.32 (around $4.79) in the previous quarter. Spotify recently announced price hikes in the US and other markets worldwide, similar to those implemented by competitors like Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, and YouTube Music Premium, in an attempt to address the decline in revenue per user. The impact of these price increases will likely become evident in the next quarter.
