Run For Cover is a short but sweet EP, serving up three tracks that leave you wanting to hear more from No Love For The Middle Child.  As soon as you finish a run-through of the EP, you might find yourself hitting that play button again!

First up on the EP is “Right Back”, a story of heartbreak and an unfaithful relationship.  The track offers a great chorus with lyrics and a melody that stands out, “Never gave you my heart, you ripped it out of my chest, you lied to my face while you lie in my bed.”

It’s safe to say that it’s pretty hard not to sing along to “Right Back”, it’s super catchy, relatable and it’s just the kind of alt-pop anthem we need for the summer.

On to “Wasting Time”, this song feels reminiscent of The Band Camino with the rich synth and use of canon backing vocals in the chorus.  This track has a super atmospheric sound, supported by interweaving electronics.  It sounds summery and fresh; you can almost imagine being in the car with friends and playing this loud!  Shout out to the guitar solo and the end too.

“Run For Cover” shares the EP title and it’s a well-rounded end to No Love For The Middle Child’s collection.  More delicate vocals are used for this nostalgic track, a relatable story about looking back on the days when you were younger and the contrasts between your past and present, “Now you’re older, summer’s fine but every winter just gets colder.”

Overall, Run For Cover is a great project from NLFTMC – it definitely offers him a bigger step for progressing as a musician.  With a handful of singles and two EPs in his discography, there’s plenty of scope for NLFTMC – no doubt he will go from strength to strength with his seamless alternative/indie anthems.
