Novarium releases new single “Virus”

By June 29, 2020No Comments

Hard rock/metal band Novarium have released their new single “Virus,” available on all digital platforms NOW, with a corresponding music video. Although the members are scattered across opposite coasts, the band has been actively working on new music for their second EP. “Virus” gives listeners an intimate taste of their upcoming work, and showcases a rebirth of sorts for Novarium. A modern take on the fusion of hard rock and metal, “Virus” is a true testament to the band’s continuous evolution, despite the members’ physical distance. Containing both cinematic elements and some retro 80’s influences, Novarium is authentically themselves, allowing ample room for growth, experimentation, and change. “Virus” uses heavy gothic imagery to tell the story of human nature, which they plan to be a recurring theme in their new music. About the single, lead vocalist Jen Janet states:

“Virus” uses god/goddess imagery and gothic lyrics to describe human nature. It’s about loving someone and putting them on a pedestal, but that person changes, becoming selfish and evil. Although we are in the midst of a pandemic at the moment, we wrote this song quite a while ago. It seemed fitting to release it now with current events. It’s about understanding the virus inside ourselves – the dark parts of ourselves and coming to terms with them and who we are. Humans are not god and evil, there are always parts of us that will perform good deeds, and parts that will perform evil actions as well. Understanding that is an important part of understanding society and the confusing time in our current social and political climate.”

Novarium is a U.S.-based gothic metal outfit founded in 2013 marrying elements of doom, progressive, and symphonic metal with the dark ambience of synth and orchestral elements in a way that La Suricate Magazine (Belgium) describes as “…music that cleverly mixes sweetness with aggressiveness.”

Comprised of vocalist, Jen Janet (ex-Blind Revision, Mimesis), bassist Carey White, keyboardist Micah Consylman (ex-Bella Morte), drummer D. Anthony, and guitarists Sean Gronholt and Dean Michaels (live While Heaven Wept), the band has shared the stage with such notable acts as Hanzel und Gretyl, Genitorturers, and Amorphis. In 2017, the band earned a guest spot on the Infektion Divinum tour with industrial/black metal band, Psyclon 9. With a rejuvenated lineup in 2018, the band paid homage to gothic metal titans, Type O Negative, by releasing their rendition of “Christian Woman.” In their first original offering since their debut album, Omicron (2016), the band has released their new single, “Virus” from their forthcoming EP, mixed and mastered at Deep End Studio in Baltimore, MD (Steep Steps). The release coincides with the band’s first official music video helmed by Zenbeast Media (GOZU, The Machinist). The band proudly endorses ESP guitars, Sinister Guitar Picks, and Soultone cymbals.

Novarium is currently hard at work on a second EP followed by plans for East and West Coast tours.
