Ones to Watch in 2020

By January 6, 2020No Comments

In this new year, we have so much to look forward to in terms of music. 2020 is bringing us new tours, new music, and plenty of opportunities to fall in love with new artists. I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite artists that you need to keep an eye on this year.

Bearings

I absolutely fell in love with Bearings in 2019. They’re one of the most underrated bands in the game right now. I first heard about them after they opened for Grayscale’s headlining tour this past fall, and I haven’t been able to stop listening to them since. In 2020, I hope for them to have a lot more tour dates as a supporting act and maybe a headlining tour if we’re lucky. I would also love a new album since Blue in the Dark was released in 2018, but I’ll take what I can get.

In the meantime, listen to: “So Damn Wrong,” “Eyes Closed,” “Aforementioned”

Bleachers

According to Twitter, Bleachers 3 is coming, y’all. Jack Antonoff promised us B3 in 2020, and I am beyond ready. The sophomore album Gone Now was released all the way back in June of 2017, and I need some new Bleachers content in my life. A headlining tour that rolls through my city would also be greatly appreciated.

In the meantime, listen to: “Goodmorning,” “I Miss Those Days,” “Rollercoaster”

COIN

We’re getting a new COIN album this year, too, y’all. I love COIN to death. They are one of the most entertaining bands I’ve ever seen. They have never released a bad song, so I’m ridiculously excited for an entire album of new material. It’s going to be epic. Plus, they’re going on a major headlining tour to support their new record. 2020 is going to be great for COIN fans.

In the meantime, listen to: “Let It All Out (10:05),” “Don’t Cry, 2020,” “Growing Pains”

The Wrecks

Listen, I have been a fan of The Wrecks since 2017. Since I started following them, they have been teasing an album. They have lied to me every time. Now, finally, by the grace of the universe, the band has said there will be an album in March of this year. Now I don’t want to get my hopes up because obviously I’ve been lied to before, but I’m ready for an album. I have been following this band for far too long for them to only have ten songs out. I need this album. And once it’s out in the world, y’all will realize how awesome this band is.

In the meantime listen to: “Favorite Liar,” “Panic Vertigo,” “Fvck Somebody”

The Band CAMINO

In 2019, The Band CAMINO made some major waves. They signed to a label, released a killer EP, and did an insane amount of touring. This year, they’re poised to get even more exposure with their run of supporting dates on Dan + Shay’s arena tour. Yeah, they’re already playing arena shows, and they don’t even have an album out yet! 2019 was a huge year for the band, but 2020 is going to be their year.

In the meantime, listen to: “Farsighted,” “Hush Hush,” “Less Than I Do”
