Pinkshift is female-fronted punk rock band, hailing from Baltimore. Fresh on the scene, their writing is inspired by 90s grunge and 2000s pop-punk, blurring the sounds between riot grrl, punk rock, and post-hardcore. Melting together different musical and cultural roots through a common love of angsty rock.
For fans of Mannequin Pussy, Destroy Boys and early Paramore – Pinkshift are one to watch. Not to mention the mix of post-hardcore energy, channelling the likes of MCR and Microwave.
Embracing their diverse backgrounds, Pinkshift create an authentic and powerful sound.
Their new single, “i’m gonna tell my therapist on you” releases tomorrow but All Punked Up readers are in for a treat tonight as the band have kindly given us an exclusive listen.
Check out their new track below:
Speaking about the new track, vocalist, Ashrita Kumar said, “It’s about being tossed between specialists and feeling unheard while existing in the healthcare system. As a band, we put together a sound that really expresses that feeling of ‘looking cr*zy.’ I wanted to be able to reclaim that feeling and make it something powerful that I hope others can relate to.”
