Punk duo Plasma Canvas’ debut EP is exactly what you need right now– album review

Plasma Canvas’s debut EP KILLERMAJESTIC is loud, powerful, and totally in-your-face. In short, it’s everything you need to hear right now.

Title track “KILLERMAJESTIC” sets the stage for what promises to be an explosive and unapologetic debut from the punk duo. This song delivers exactly what I need from a punk song. It’s high-energy, it has a driving guitar, and I can definitely see myself moshing to this song.

I swear, when live music is alive and well again, crowds will be losing their minds to this song. Just you wait.

“Rot” is in the same vein as “KILLERMAJESTIC,” delivering the same exciting and electrifying instrumentals. The vocals are a little tamer, but the song is just as much fun.

“Saturn” has the potential to seriously make waves in the alternative scene. It’s more palatable for a softer audience (I’m talking about myself here…I like my punk with a heavy dose of pop, what can I say). It vaguely reminds me of the song “S.O.S (Sawed Off Shotgun)” by the band Glorious Sons that blew up on rock radio stations. The unique vocals of Plasma Canvas have the same sort of appeal, and I think “Saturn” is the song that can take them to that next level. The guitar riff is just infectious. It’s seriously so good.

“Firecracker” weirdly reminds me of blink-182 in a way, but it also has ska vibes but without the brass instruments. These sound like weird traits when put together, but I swear it makes for such a fun song. It’s not as hardcore as the EP’s first two songs, but it’s just as impressive.

“Flux” is my personal favorite from the EP. It’s probably the most mellow of the five songs (as I said, I’m soft), which makes it a perfect closing track. It starts off kind of melancholy and sorrowful, but it gradually builds into a really powerful anthem. I feel like this song would be perfect for a movie about a band, and this is the song that the band plays to end every concert, a sort of farewell to their loyal audience at the end of the night.

Something about this EP feels so classic punk yet so innovative at the same time. Each song will translate well to a live audience. It’s everything I could ask for.

I definitely see big things in the future of Plasma Canvas.
