The Chainsmokers held a “drive-in” festival over the weekend in the Hamptons. Although for most attendees, it was not an actual drive-in show. Approximately 2,000 guests gathered for the outdoor concert. Many wore masks but were not required to keep them on throughout the show. There were additional barricades and attendees claim they did their absolute best to social distance.

Many attendees and employees noted that they followed all CDC guidelines and enforced social distancing as much as possible. Outsiders, including New York’s public health officials, are outraged about The Chainsmokers concert.
“I am at a loss as to how the Town of Southampton could have issued a permit for such an event, how they believed it was legal and not an obvious public health threat,” health expert Dr. Zucker explained.

While many images show people taking precautions, many other images do not.
The Hamptons and the State of New York are now investigating the concert and have already begun citations for violating their permit to host the show in the first place.
Tickets for the concert ranged from $1250-$25,000 and 100% of proceeds were donated to local charities.
