The Chainsmokers’ Hampton’s performance turned into a public health controversy when members of the crowd were spotted not following social distancing protocols on video.
The performance made national headlines after the New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, called for an investigation by the New York Department of Health.
Governor Cuomo announced, on October 14th, the results of the investigation. He announced that the promoters would be receiving a $20,000 fine. Furthermore, the Town of Southampton can no longer approve permits for group gatherings without approval from the state.
