All Punked Up got an exclusive sneak peek of the full record, which will undoubtedly be one of the best EPs to drop this year. Check out our thoughts below!

From Which We Came is the rawest, most vulnerable and beautiful record of the year.

From Which We Came is a beautiful, vulnerable record that opens up conversations about mental health and addiction.

The album opens up with “Eve Black” which is a short instrumental featuring recordings of doctors from decades ago talking about mental health, which goes into the next track “White Jacket” seamlessly. “White Jacket” incorporates elements of early rock with modern effects to engage listeners quickly. The verse is slow and emotional, bringing up struggles of mental health. The pre-chorus features several screams, which move the slow-paced verse into the rocking chorus perfectly.

The third track is “Open Heart // Closed Casket” and highlights Johnny’s vocals beautifully. His personality shines through his singing, while the riffs behind him further highlight the emotion of the song and the musicianship he possesses.

“Once An Addict Always Dramatic” is my favorite track on From Which We Came. The song makes me want to dance and scream my heart out because it reminds me of an old friend who always made excuses for their behavior and choices, just as the lyrics talk about in the chorus. While all of The Wildfires Projekt’s songs are honest and relatable, I connect with this one especially well.

The Wildfires Projekt will lead the emo revival movement.

Each song possesses a unique sound, incorporating many aspects of rock music. Classic rock and current rock influences can be heard throughout, but the style maintains its unique touch, which is Johnny’s main mission. His musical talent is matched with his poetic portrayal of tough topics.

The entire EP brings up topics around tough conversations relating to mental health, addiction, and loss, in an artistic and beautiful way. Johnny’s command of language, alongside his command of music, creates an album that takes listeners on an emotional journey. The final track is “Eyes Sewn Shut” and sums the album up perfectly. It draws from Johnny’s personal experience where he had driven his car off the road and almost died. The song takes the perspective as if he had died and God is talking to him about how things could have been different. The last thirty seconds of the song closes out with an inspirational audio clip to tie up the album on a lighter note and ending the album in the way it began; with audio clips.

Johnny hopes his music is enjoyed by fans and encourages fans to use it as an outlet to open up conversations with their loved ones about mental health.
