Nothing is better than scrolling through Spotify and running into a good ol’ 2006/2007 band that gives you the nostalgic feelings of the MySpace and scene days. That being said, let’s get our fangs up and reminisce on one of 2006’s finest, Cobra Starship.
You may remember seeing Cobra for the first time with their song “Bring It (Snakes On A Plane)” from their first record, While The City Sleeps, We Rule The Streets. The track features Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes, William Beckett of The Academy Is… and vocalist Maia Iverson. The song was also featured on the soundtrack for the action thriller film Snakes On A Plane.
Then 2007 came and we were blessed with Cobra’s second record, Viva La Cobra! The album is full of iconic upbeat tracks with fun videos to support them, including “The City Is At War”, where pies are being thrown, as well as “Guilty Pleasure”, a homemade video with an unforgettable dance.
In April of 2009, Cobra hit the road in support of Fall Out Boy on their Believers Never Die Tour Part Deux. The lineup for this tour was explosive with supporting acts including All Time Low, Hey Monday, Metro Station and 50 Cent (on some dates). This tour was the last headlining tour influential pop-punk band Fall Out Boy played before going on hiatus late in 2009. You can check out a fan recorded video of Cobra’s performance featuring Alex Gaskarth, lead vocalist of All Time Low!
How can we forget Cobra’s cover of “Hollaback Girl” by making it “Hollaback Boy”?
Hopefully, this made you remember all of the good Cobra Starship times. Be sure to let us know your favorite Cobra moments or tracks!
