We the Kings self titled album was released in 2007. This album was made of songs we know and love like, “Check Yes, Juliet” and “Skyway Avenue”. This album was our introduction to WTK as a band, and a lot of the songs on the album have a backstory to help us understand who they are. We The Kings is an album that has the classic pop punk sound. Not to mention, this album produced a song that would become an anthem in the pop-punk scene. “Check Yes, Juliet” has become one of those songs that from the first few notes you know what song it is, and you’re very excited to hear it. Even if you weren’t really a big fan of WTK, you knew the song.
For long time fans of WTK, this album is very nostalgic. It takes you back, 13 years, to a different time in your life. Music has the ability to make you remember where you were, or who you were with, or what you were doing at the time when you heard it. Just hearing the album has the ability to transport you to the pace you were in, and bring back memories you may not have realized you associated with hearing this music. We The Kings is a feel good kind of album. The kind of music that makes you wanna get up, jump around, and sing at the top of your lungs.
Where were you when you heard this album? Maybe give it a listen now, see what memories it brings back for you.
