Alternative pop-rock outfit Weathers have been heating up 2021 as they gear up for the release of their long awaited sophomore album, Pillows and Therapy, out August 13th. Now, the excitement for the album has reached a boiling point as these LA-natives release the final single from the project.
The SoCal rockers know their way around a searing guitar solo and catchy pop hook, but it’s truly their relatable and personable lyrics that keep fans coming back. They wear their hearts on their sleeves, and continue to do so on the latest release “Karma” – an indie-pop anthem for anyone who’s ever been wronged.
With the simple messaging that ‘what goes around, comes around,’ the track feels neither resentful nor vengeful. Instead, it serves as a consolation that wrongs will be made right with gentle guitars, cascading synths and comforting vocals. The lyrics come to depict “Karma” as the unhinged bearer of bad news, an inevitable force of nature that you cannot escape. This is seen with standout lines like “If you’re gonna sink or swim, just drown.” This track reminds us to stay grounded, or else “Karma” will come for us too.
According to frontman Cameron Boyer:
“This song is for all the people that have wronged you. All of us, no matter how proud we are of taking the high road, sometimes wish those people would get some karma thrown their way. What comes around goes around. Be kind. Love one another. Don’t risk karma coming after you.”
