UPDATE (1/6/20): It seems that Real Friends has taken another step toward a break up. The band has blacked out on all social media, wiping their Instagram and Twitter of profile pictures and posts.
In a livestream on Twitch, Dan, frontman of Real Friends, claims he doesn’t understand the break up rumors. He assured fans that the band would continue writing music and performing in the near future. His viewers, however, were not convinced and the stream is nowhere to be found on social media or Twitch.
The band has yet to announce an official split, but this social media blackout is concerning many fans.
ORIGINAL POST 12/12/19: When advertising for their European tour, Real Friends reminded fans that it is their last tour for a while. Which, at first, was not a problem. After a fall tour, bands should spend time resting with their families. We get that. In November, however, the boys told Instagram that their next tour would not be for another two or three years.
Originally, this was not a big deal. The boys would take time for their families and get back to the studio to start their next album. Fans did not think this two- or three-year tour hiatus was a sign of a breakup.
Until a few days ago, when the boys announced that everything in their merch store must go. Most items were 50% off or more. Some fans thought the band may be changing merchandise providers. In a comment back to a fan, however, the band claims that they are “going out of business.”
Fans in the comments and Twitter threads began to panic. Many fans asked questions about a break or a breakup. The band has not replied to any of these.
On top of this, Real Friends guitarist Kyle Fasel has been posting pretty sad poetry and scripture on his Instagram page and story. He recently wrote a poem about moving on in life, causing speculation about the future of the band.
What situation could he be referring to? Let us know your thoughts on Instagram and Twitter!
