Cassadee Pope drops music video for “People That I Love Leave”

By May 18, 2023No Comments

Cassadee Pope, the GRAMMY-nominated and Platinum-certified singer-songwriter, has unveiled the highly anticipated music video for her latest single, “People That I Love Leave.” Directed by the talented Ed Pryor, known for his work with renowned artists like Dierks Bentley, Mickey Guyton, and The War and Treaty, the video captures the relatable struggle of self-sabotaging relationships due to past heartbreak.

In “People That I Love Leave,” Cassadee eloquently portrays the challenges of accepting love when one has been deeply wounded before. Reflecting on the concept behind the music video, Cassadee explains, “This song describes the difficulties of letting someone love you when you’ve been hurt in the past. I wanted the music video to illustrate the scenarios of how when a guy gets too close, I have a tendency to self-sabotage.” The video effectively conveys this theme, while also incorporating an intense, high-energy performance sequence to emphasize the frustration and anger that often follow such actions.

Throughout her career, Cassadee Pope has consistently charted her own course in the music industry, and “People That I Love Leave” marks a significant milestone in her artistic journey. As the former frontwoman of the beloved pop-punk band Hey Monday, Cassadee demonstrates a compelling return to her musical roots with this single. She expresses her excitement about the project, stating, “This next project has an authenticity that I’ve never been able to tap into before now. Pop and rock music is such a staple in my creativity, so to fully return back to that genre feels special and like coming back home.”

We had the privilege to sit down with Cassadee after the initial release of this track. We talked about everything from her time in Hey Monday, winning Season 3 of The Voice, her country career, and ultimately coming back to her pop-punk sound that started it all. You can check that out below.
