Lastelle sign to Year Of The Rat Records

By August 5, 2020No Comments

Lastelle is an atmospheric post-hardcore band hailing from Oxfordshire, UK. With comparisons being drawn to the likes of Devil Sold His Soul, Casey, Underoath, Being As An Ocean, and The Elijah; Lastelle are writing music that blends the power and hooks of post-hardcore with the dense soundscapes and textures of post-rock.

Focusing on dynamic song writing, cascading vocal hooks, and emotional lyrics. Making some bold first steps since forming in September 2018, with streaming plays totalling over 200,000 on Spotify and Apple Music alone, official music video views totalling over 160,000, and multiple tours and shows under their belts already. They’ve shared the stage with the likes of Dream State, TheCityIsOurs, Polar, Press To MECO and more.

The band join Year Of The Rat Records, becoming the second band to sign after UK punk rock band The Young Hearts announced joining the label back in July. “Coping Without A Cure” is released on all digital platforms on 7th August 2020.

On signing the band, owner of Year Of The Rat Records James Illsley says, “It’s fantastic to be working with Lastelle on their upcoming release cycle. I have been a big fan of the band for the past couple of years, so am really excited to help champion their releases going forward. This band has something truly special and I cant wait for everyone to hear the new material.”

Lastelle on joining YOTRR, ”We’re really excited to be working alongside Year of the Rat Records. James has done some excellent work with loads of great bands previously, so when Year of the Rat and Lastelle opened up a conversation, we knew he would be a great fit to join the team. Our new partnership with Year of the Rat Records is going to help bring Lastelle up to the next level; creatively, working together will allow us to continue to grow and make the music we love, without compromising our vision.”

Talking about their new single, the band said, “We’re really proud of this E.P, having built and expanded upon our existing sound as a band. The songs have been written and arranged as a more cohesive body of work compared to our previous efforts. Lyrically we have tackled subjects that are more personal to us; grief, mental health, and illness. We’ve written about how we cope, while standing alongside those we care about. As a symbolism of love and death, of time, of reflection and prediction, we hope to offer this collection as a means of catharsis for those who may be struggling to cope with similar hardships. “Coping Without A Cure” is a bit different for us – it still embodies the wall of sound we have built in the past but it hits a lot harder. The subject of the song is very personal; the lyrics personify someone suffering from Alzheimers, how they’re starting to forget the people they love. If you’ve dealt with this yourself, you’ll know how sad it is to witness.”
