If you haven’t heard of Slit before, you’re welcome in advance. These metalheads from Texas know how to rock out and break down. Their debut, four-track EP Nothing Left is just a taste of the talent Slit has in store. Be sure to give the record a listen and check out our thoughts of Nothing Left below!

Slit is on their way to be the next big emo metalcore band.

Nothing Left opens with “Dead Roses” which creeps in with a light riff followed by some gritty, post-hardcore screaming vocals. This transitions into a soft, echoey pre-chorus which leads into the slow, emotional chorus. It is clear that Slit’s vocalist have strong command of their vocal range. The guitar breakdown and screams bring me straight into a 2010s metalcore song and I am living for the feels (yes, I just got nostalgic about the 2010s, don’t “@” me).

“Nothing Left” comes next and it is very clear why this is the title track. I get heavy Breaking Benjamin + Linkin Park vibes from this one. “Nothing Left” showcases Slit’s talent and passion to become leaders in the scene. From the riffs to the vocals to the catchiness of the lyrics, Slit has it all together and is ready to take over metalcore.

“Backwounds” opens with screaming vocals, which differs from the soft echoey openings in the previous two tracks. This song is now my favorite work-out track since it hits my emotions while motivating me to keep going with the lyric “There’s no going back.”
